The Big Game

This was it, one of the most favorited games of the year, the NFC championship. Today one winner would be crowned and move to the the Superbowl. My favorite team (The 49ers) are playing the Seattle Seahawks. This is the 3rd year in a row that the 49ers have made it to the NFC championship, but this championship is one that I will always remember.

I watch the game in the comfort of my home withe my family and one friend of mine. I watch the post game show knowing that I wouldn’t like what they have to say because the 49ers are the underdog. I see that the chance of the 49ers winning is about 30 percent , but I have no doubt about this game.

3,2,1, I count down until kickoff and… here we go. The game starts great as the 49ers rack up a field goal on their first drive. Seattle then takes the ball into their hands just to kick it back after the first few plays. This pattern was followed for two more drives with the score hanging at nine to zero. It was a great half for the 49ers, but everything was about to change.

As I watched the half time show the more I worried about the rest of this game. The analyzers were talking about how the Seattle Seahawks are going to bounce back into this game, and as they guessed the first drive of the Seahawks was a touchdown. The touchdown belonged to Marshawn Lynch and it was a great run. The 49ers then throw a devastating interception to Seattle. This interception ended in a touchdown pass from Russell Wilson.

“This is it” I say “the final drive”. The 49ers grab a small return to the 25 yard line. Then a incomplete pass to Anquan Boldin. Then with 1:50 on the clock a quarterback scramble from Colin Kaepernick shaking tackles and a huge gain of 58 yards. The 49ers then spike the ball to stop the clock. 2nd down on the 17 yard line, and since the 49ers are down by 5 a field goal would not be helpful here. The clock reads 49 seconds, the first play is a pass toward the sideline but is dropped. Second play is a few yard screen pass and a timeout is called. This next play is the last one do or die. Colin Kaepernick dropped back into the pocket and launches a pass toward the end zone I watch the beautiful pass into the end zone. The ball is tipped by a defender and… Interception the game is over I hold my head down in despair to see my favorite team lose in such a close game. As I was about to turn off the tv something lifted my spirits. The cornerback that tipped the ball into the air is now blabbing his mouth about how good he was… it was hilarious.

I will always remember this game not because of the final score or the 49ers great season, but I will always remember this game because of that interview of Seattle’s cornerback.

A Pet That I Have Known

Norman–he is absolutely crazy, but that’s why I like him.

My old dog Norman was a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. He is orange with a white belly. His belly always got grass stains on it because he would run around with his super short legs. Norman was super energetic from the day we got him intel the day we gave him away. The reason we gave him away was because he was so crazy, so we were concerned that he would tackle Hayes my little brother who was 2 at that time. Norman was always really fun to play with because he would run around chasing me. Norman thought he was the king of the house (which ironic knowing how small he is). All my friends that came over were worried that he would bite them, but the more Norman met them the more he liked them. Norman slept with wis little legs out flat on his stomach which always made me laugh.

Norman is absolutely crazy, but that’s why I like him.

Anticipation

Anticipation

Anticipation is gray.

It tastes like a lifetime of sorrow

and it smells of raw sweat and tears.

It feels like your stomach turns upside down

and it sounds like pure silence.

It looks like the games begin shortly.

Anticipation is pure torture living at the bottom of a hole.

My Brother

My brother (Hayes) always makes me smile. He is 4 years old but thinks he is 12. He likes to play football and wrestle with me. He never seems to annoy me even when he was 1 or 2, so it seemed like he is like one of my friends. All of my friends like him too,  like Lozano and Chase–they think he is the coolest guy, and he is. He has brown eyes and dirty blond hair. Everyday he checks to see if he grew on the side of the door. He is rough and tough when it comes to sports, but he can also be the nicest guy you know.

He recently started flag football, and he loves it. After every game he counts down the days until the next one. Also their team went undefeated this year. After every game he shares play by play (unless it was a bad play).

My brother Hayes is honestly one of the coolest kids–no– coolest people— I know.

Westlake game

Last week was the first home game of this year, we were going up against Temple Wildcats which will be a tough game sense last year we lost to them. The game didn’t start out good, Westlake loses the toss and the Wildcats pick to receive. Westlake makes a good run back to the 40 before getting tackled.

This is when it gets bad, the first play is a short gain but the second is a pitch to the left when suddenly a Wildcat comes for the tackle when the ball falls out of Westlake’s possession and into the Wildcats hands. After a few first downs the Temple Wildcats score. This continues all the way until the second half. The Wildcats continue to put points up on the board and shutting down Westlake up until the final quarter. The final quarter begins the score not looking good but the hope within keeps us from giving up. Westlake scores with 6:38 seconds remaining still down by 2 touchdowns the onside kick fails but Westlake holds the Wildcats to a 3 and out with 3:45 remaining Westlake scores on 10 yard out and a few missed tackles.

The Chaparrals need an onside kick or the game is over the kick is up and … Westlake recovers but we still need touchdown with 1:26 remaining. The first play is a10 yard gain and a slow run the second play, 23 seconds remain on the 7 yard line. The last play the quarterback drops back and tough down on a 5 yard in. The game is over and Westlake makes a great comeback to win the game.

War

The worst possible thing anybody can ever imagine. The worst experience any man can ever have. The bullets shot, the shriek of incident people fighting for their country being killed, the air filled with death, blood on the battlefield, and worst of all watching your own man get killed without anything you can do but sit there and try to help. It is a very horrible thing for anybody to have to do, but it must be done. Is there any other way to settle it?

Football Time

We arrive the opposing team looks bigger stronger and faster then us I could tell from all the way on the other sideline. Even though they looked better there was no quitting. I go out onto the field to call the coin toss “heads” I say… it’s heads. The ref tells us to shake each others hands. I think the other team could tell we were worried because when I shook their hands my hands were shaking with fear. We line up to return the ball but the ball sails out of bounds, so the ball will go to the 40 yard line. I march onto the field now my whole body was trembling with fear. I call the play “ready…Break” our team says as we line up for the first play, I line up under center.

Down… Hutt!!!!! Here it goes

My First Touchdown Pass

Down…Hutt!!!! I dropped back on the 15 yard line it was the beginning of the fourth quarter and we were losing by four so we needed a big drive, then as soon as I began to look at my receivers everything suddenly slowed down. I went through my progressions look at the out but he was covered next the curl but he couldn’t get into the end zone my final look the post he was open. I take my final step before throwing the ball I was so focused that I couldn’t hear a thing I look in the end zone to the receiver the ball leaves my fingertips soaring through the sky going strait to the end zone into the receivers hands and…TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!! Everything began to speed up again we won that game because of that play, I will never forget it.

Football

Onto the field among the wave of cougars.

Within ourselves we have little faith.

But we continue to play the game.

Toward the end zone both teams go.

In hope to take home the glory.

Beyond the cheer of the crowd the teams stay focused.

Into the end zone for the win.

Tweet-Tweet, games over.

This song really helped me learn the Spanish alphabet and
really helps me learn how to pronounce the words.
